I finished BSG (except Razor) and have to say that I am quite satisfied with how it ended. Extremely well done and has surpassed Joss Whedon and is the equal of Superanatural.
Also watched The Oscars. Utterly disappointed in James Franco and Anne Hathaway's attempt at hosting. Billy Crystal's appearance was funnier than two of them were the entire evening. It was a shame too because I thought that they would have done so much better! Especially Anne, who can be incredibly funny!
As to the awards, they were pretty much as expected. I did want the Social Network to win more; although I haven't seen the King's Speech, so I can't make any judgments on it.

I am at work, so I don't really have time to ramble on, but I had to mention. Battlestar Galactica is a FRAKKING amazing show! It has joined Supernatural as a show that has surpassed the work of Joss Whedon. It is not possible for me to give a higher compliment.
That is all!

After encouraging, prodding, perhaps even nagging a friend of my to write, I should take my own advice. After reading Roger Ebert's last couple of blog entries, I realized how much I value my alone time. I have an office job and so spend at minimum 8 hours a day, 5 days a week interacting with people on a near constant basis. Therefore, on weekends, I don't really want to see anyone, or at least anyone I have social obligations to in some manner. I love time to read, watch tv, play with my cat, or simply sit and contemplate. There is a beauty in this time. If I don't get this, I become a very unpleasant person to be around. I highly recommend a cultivated habit of alone time. You should be your own best company.
A beautiful poem about being alone:

well, I had a pretty cool weekend, so I shall post about it.
I decided on the spur of the moment on Friday to go to south Florida for the weekend as I've never been there. Invited a friend but she couldn't go, so I went by myself.
I drove to Homestead that day. It's about 20 miles from Key Largo. Explored the Everglades on Saturday, drove down to Key West on Sunday, and drove back on Monday. Oh, and stopped at The World Erotic Art Museum in Miami Beach on the way back.
It was a really great trip! I didn't get a lot of sleep and tried to do too much but overall I'm glad I went.
I totally love Key West and want to go back!! Preferably some time when it isn't the height of tourist season!
I will try and post some of my pics over the weekend.
I went to my 10-year high school reunion a few weeks ago, which was a good weekend, but super busy and got almost no sleep!!
Read and watched The Girl with the dragon tattoo, and read The Girl who played with Fire, and started The Girl who kicked the Hornet's Nest. SUCH an awesome series!! The Swedish movie is REALLY good, I'm very, VERY scared of the planned Hollywood remake.
Read How Starbucks Saved My Life recently. Another excellent book and a true story to boot!
Finally watched Up in the Air and absolutely LOVED it!
There is no doubt more to tell, but that's all I can think of atm.

Supernatural season 5 is now over. I will try very, VERY hard not to spoiler. I must say, however, that it was beautiful and heartbreaking. I shall be melancholy for the rest of the day, or even possibly the next few days.
My heart it is ready to burst!
I am trying not to think of the fact that the show has been renewed for a 6th season, especially considering Kripke will no longer be the main one running the show. As much as I love the show, why couldn't they have respected Kripke's wishes to stop with 5 seasons. For fuck's sake give Jared and Jensen a break. They've given blood, sweat, tears, heart, and soul for the last 5 years entirely carrying an amazing show. They deserve a break!
*sigh* Now I have to wait for the DVDs to come out.
That is all.

I just went and got the mail and had packages with stuff that I had ordered and had kinda forgotten about.
Things that made me happy as a kid!
Zoo-opolis - A documentary of the animals at the Bronx Zoo narrated by a talking giraffe. I am pretty sure that I wore out the library copy of this tape when I was a kid! I LOVED it!! (an added bonus is that Sammy really seems to be enjoying watching it!)
Tut the Boy King (now on DVD) - A documentary showing a traveling exhibit of artifacts from King Tut's tomb narrated by Orson Wells. This is what first awakened in me a love of Egyptian history and a desire to be an archaeologist. Another library tape I probably wore out as a kid!
Things that make me happy as an adult!
Chasing Amy - GREAT movie, if you've never seen it!
Shadow of the Wind - GREAT book! the prose, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
In other news, I finished Omnivore's Dilemma. Excellent book. Makes you really think about what you eat.
Was sick, but now getting better slowly!! The doc thinks that it is something viral. It keeps really sapping my energy. I had to take a day and a half off work before I started really feeling better.
Not too much else to tell. I'm off to Cracker Barrel for a late dinner.

wow, it's been ages since I posted. Lets see...
Saw Avatar midnight when it came out. SUCH a good movie. The colors....oh, THE COLORS!! The 3D is not annoying and makes it feel like you are really there. The avatars are actually recognizable as the actors that played them. The storyline is very absorbing. All around a great movie.
Read The Road. Dark, dark, DARK, but excellently written. Found words that I'd either forgotten or never heard.
Read The Shadow of the Wind. BEAUTIFUL!!! Amazingly translated!
Read Garden Spells. Lovely, light book.
Reading The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. Excellent book so far.
Read Half the Sky. Excellently written and thought-provoking. All about the terrible things that are happening to women all over the world, but also about how we can change them.
Reading Omnivore's Dilemma. Scary stuff about how our food system works! Good book, though. Keeps you reading.
Tried yoga a couple of times. Damn, that is HARD but I am determined to keep trying!!
Have been doing cardio two to three times a week for the past couple of weeks. Hope I can keep it up.
Off all week. Still in Florida. I wanted a vacation all to myself. I am LOVING IT!!!
